JOB SUMMARY:  Plans, organizes, controls and directs the operational activities of the laboratory.  Provides supervision for all laboratory staff.  Must be able to communicate with patients, physicians, staff members and all other internal and external customers.  Promotes and maintains the goals and objectives of the company while representing the facility with a positive, professional attitude and professional appearance at all times.


  • Position requires sitting for 20% of the workday and mobility 80% of the workday.
  • There is frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
  • There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action.
  • Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds.
  • There is continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range.

  • Schedules and oversees the maintenance, adjustment, or calibration of laboratory instruments, apparatus, or testing devices.
  • Performs biological, hematological, chemical, or physical analysis and determinations at the direction of professional staff.
  • Performs on a regular basis laboratory technician assignments that are recognized as the most complex.
  • Exercises independent authority and responsibility for an assigned area.
  • Serves as the recognized expert within a program area, and provides technical assistance to other departmental staff.
  • Performs biological, hematological, chemical, or physical analysis and determinations at the direction of professional staff.
  • Performs physical, bacteriological, chemical, or serological tests on a variety of samples including blood, sputum, and urine
  • Operates, adjusts, and maintains scientific instruments including but not limited to EKG, PFT, Vital machine and Beckman Coulter machine
  • Follows required aseptic techniques
  • Send out labs that we don’t do in office and send appropriate paperwork.
  • Logs samples and related pertinent information
  • Collects blood specimens and analyzes them
  • Performs such blood counts as red cell, hemoglobin, differential, platelet, etc
  • Makes complete urinalyses, including qualitative and quantitative testing
  • Carries out biochemical analyses and determinations such as liver function, thyroid function, blood sugars, renal function, and cardiac function .


Education:  High School graduate or equivalent and certification in phlebotomy and/or lab experience

Experience:  Minimum of 2 – 3 years in medical office laboratory

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, assignments and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate tactfully and effectively with all internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work with co-workers, clients and management in a positive and cooperative manner.
